Counselor in Training (CIT)

Young Adults 14-16 years old

Cost: $500 for the 4-week session

Dates: July 17-August 4th
The 4th week can be chosen by the participant either August 7-11, August 14-18 or August 21-25

Young adults interested in making a positive impact on children are ideal candidates for our innovative Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program. CITs explore potential career paths involving children and prepare for possible future work as a camp counselor. The CIT program covers leadership development, behavioral training, motivating campers, portfolio development, job application and interview training, ropes course belay training, and basic First Aid, as well as an equestrian program workshop.

The first half of the program consists of hands-on training. During the second half, CITs are placed within groups under the leadership of seasoned counselors to experience being a counselor.

NOTE: CITs will complete an interview and must express a strong interest in working with children in order to be considered. This is limited to 12 CIT’s.

LEADERSHIP-IN-VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Young Adults 14-16 years old

Cost: There is no cost for the program however campers must pay the $20 registration fee and pay for any additional services they need such as early, late care or bus transportation.

Dates: Two week session chosen by the camper

Young adults who have completed the CIT program at Camp Ketcha or at another camp and are interested in continuing to become a leader should enroll in the Leadership-In-Training program.  Participants will learn how to apply the values of Camp Ketcha in leading group activities. Campers will be assigned to a counselor for the two week period and learn counseling skills, behavior management, group management, risk assessment and more through hands on real world experience.

NOTE: LIT’s must complete an interview with the  Camp Director if they are new to Camp Ketcha and have successfully completed a CIT program.

HORSE INSTRUCTOR IN TRAINING (HIT)

Young Adults 14-16

(13 year olds allowed with express permission from the program director)

Cost: $500 for the 4 week session

Dates: July 17th – August 11th

The HIT program at Camp Ketcha Equestrian is a wonderful way for a horse enthusiast to be able to explore career paths within the horse industry. HITs work with the guidance of the camp riding instructors and horse counselors to assist with camp riding lessons, lead learning activities and take part in daily horse care. HITs are also given opportunities to ride and participate in horse shows on and off property depending upon experience.

NOTE: HITs will complete an interview with the Equestrian Program Director, Rosemary Baker. They must also fill out the Registration & Medical form either using the online system or paper registrations.
