Horsemanship camp at Camp Ketcha this February 2020 school vacation! Ages 6 and up.
Runs February 17-21. Sign up by the day or for the full week.
This is an unmounted program which means campers will join in all aspects of horse camp minus riding. Throughout the week campers will get hands on education on all aspects of horse care. Campers will participate in activities such as; grooming, handling, haltering, feeding and tacking. Campers will also be learning the parts of the horse, parts of tack both English and western. We will also touch on cleaning tack and basic horse first aid. Along with this we will also be doing some arts and craft activities, watching horse related videos, making horse treats and testing our knowledge of our equine friends.
At the Camp Ketcha barn good horsemanship, being safe and having fun are at the heart of our program. We strive to bring our campers closer to these wonderful animals and grow to understand of all the hard work, dedication and love that goes into running a farm.
Although it is warmer in the barn than outside and we do have 2 heated rooms for most of our activities. Campers should come with appropriate outdoor gear; including hats, gloves, snow pants, boots and a warm jacket. We will be spending some periods of time outside of the barn and sometime in the main aisle of the barn while we do some hands on learning. Campers will not be able to stay at the barn without all these things.
